To Create New Custom Costs

A new custom cost record is created with the New Custom Cost dialog box. This dialog box is accessed with the New Custom Cost command on the File menu. If the Custom Costs folder is open, this command is also available on the Actions menu.

When you create a new custom cost, the item is added to the Custom Costs folder and displayed in the Custom Costs view. It is also added to the Custom Costs page of the Units Catalog. When you are working in the Design Assistant, you can select a custom cost from the catalog and add it to the active design. If the unit is private, it will appear in the catalog in the separate Private group. Public custom costs appear in numbered or alphabetical groups.

  1. From the File menu of the Custom Costs view, point to New and then click Custom Cost to open the New Custom Cost dialog box.
  2. Or open the Custom Costs folder and choose New Custom Cost from the Actions menu.
  3. Or right-click any item in the Custom Costs view and choose New from the shortcut menu.
  4. Enter information about the custom cost in the appropriate boxes.
  5. To specify values for custom attributes, click the Custom button.

    Note: The Custom button appears dimmed if no custom attributes have been defined for custom costs.

  6. Click OK.
